The most hip of the Nationalgalerie's six Berlin outlets, this converted 19th-century train station combines striking neoclassical detail with a modern sensibility. The building was last a terminal in 1884, and its reincarnation in 1996 as museum/gallery specialising in works since 1960 has given Berlin a contemporary-art outpost with iconic status.
