Unter dem etymologisch verwandten Titel 'Generations' findet im Rahmen der Hot Topic die 4. und letzte Ausgabe einer vierteiligen Veranstaltungsreihe an der Schnittstelle zwischen Pop & Politik statt: Jeden Monat werden etablierte Künstler*innen eine selbst gewählte Newcomer*in unter ihre Fittiche nehmen und mit verschiedensten Bereichen des Musikgeschäfts vertraut machen: Neben einem intimen Interview, das sowohl via Berlin Community Radio als auch bei Intro, Expatriarch und Berlin Poche veröffentlicht wird, findet im SchwuZ allmonatlich ein Auftritt in Form eines DJ-Sets und einer Live-Show statt. Für die letzte Ausgabe unserer Kollaboration freuen wir uns auf ein DJ-Set von Musikerin, Label-Inhaberin und Gründungsmitglied der Einstürzenden Neubauten, Gudrun Gut, sowie einen spannenden Live-Auftritt von DJ und Produzentin Borusiade. Expatriarch Generations wird ermöglicht vom Musicboard Berlin. **** Along with December comes the fourth and final edition of Expatriarch Generations. This time Gudrun Gut is on board, selecting DJ/producer Borusiade as her newcomer artist. During her 35-year music career, Ms. Gut has maneuvered through everything from post-punk to electronic abstractions, including many notable collaborations, mostly recently with Faust’s Hans Joachim Irmler for their album 500 Meter issued this autumn. Borusiade a.k.a. Miruna Boruzecu has been active in her native Romania (especially at Bucharest’s Control Club) and throughout Europe, sharing the decks with the likes of Chloé and Andrew Weatherall. Now based in Berlin, she is finalizing her first EPs for release via labels Cómeme and ViAAL. “Gender” and “genre”: both come from the same root word, and both are concepts that Expatriarch seeks to explore and deconstruct. Since 2010, Expatriarch’s monthly radio show and events have been a platform for pop and politics—specifically, where music intersects with feminism and queer theory. The word “generation” is also etymologically related, now providing the inspiration behind a new four-part series titled Expatriarch Generations. Each month through the rest of 2014, an established artist will select a newcomer to support and mentor, offering career advice and a shared gig opportunity.
