Axel Hotel Berlin

Popular and central high-definition-gay hotel
The third in the "heterofriendly" gay and lesbian Axel hotel chain (after Buenos Aires, which has since closed, and Barcelona), these Schöneberg lodgings (86 rooms) are terrifically gay-central, with easy access to Berlin's bars, cafés and cruising-the-streets culture. Sleek, designery and unrepressed. And rather black-shiny. Opened spring 2009. A Berlin sibling, TWO Hotel by Axel [see entry], opened a bit south in Wilmersdorf in February 2017. The ever expanding Axel chain includes a major presence in Spain, with hotels in Madrid, Barcelona, Ibiza and Maspalomas, Gran Canaria. An outlet of the modern incarnation of San Francisco institution Hamburger Mary's moved into the ground floor in 2013, then three years later morphed into Juniper Kitchen and Bar, which closed in spring 2017, when the space was reclaimed by the Axel as an in-house bar.

      will return
Small room, but king bed was good for a hotel. Lacked a bit of privacy from bathroom and shower to the room area though. Will return though because it was a great location and 6 th floor with gym, sauna, hot tub, steam room with a constant influx of men ( clothing optional)

      Best for hot fun
The hotel itself is good. It's a low level 4 stars, but the beds are great. The best part though is not the spa, but logging onto grindr. There were about 50 guys online in the hotel, and within a few minutes we had a 10 guy orgy going on in my room. Guys ranging 25 - 45. Fantastic!

Grt8 loc, friendly & cute staff, brkfast is good. Bad smell of cigarettes is everywhere. In my room on the 3rd floor the smell was awful. Moved to 4th fl & it improved, toilet smelled disgusting.

      Hates it

Reservation, but no room. Now we are being pushed back AT LEAST another hour. It's like they don't even care about the quality of your hotel experience!!

great location as you walk to many bars and shops. subway is 5 minutes away. comfortable beds. neighborhood felt safe. downtown berlin is like 10minutes by subway. spa and bathing area are nice and get pretty interesting late at night.!! diverse crowd. odd to see so many straight people at a gay hotel. i am not sure what they were expecting.front staff always seem to know where the party was/club to go to. if you want to imerse yourself in the "gayborhood", this would be a fine location to do so.

      Great hotel and location
Had a great time during the long Easter weekend at tha Axel. Staff was very nice and helpful when asking questions. Rooms are a little small by American standards, but the junior suite I had was perfect. The location cannot be beat. Steps away from all the bars, restaurants and of course the KA DE WE!! I look forward returning for New Year's.

The Axel Hotel advertises itself as Heterofriendly. This is a gay hotel, through and through. And given its location, it's in the perfect spot. It's right in the heart of Berlin's Schoeneberg neighborhood. The rooms are contemporary and very comfortable. The staff was exceptional. They were able to help with just about anything, including ideas for shopping and dinner. The hotel is a short block away from the Wittenbergplatz UBahn station. Again, that makes the location superb.

      More maturing
I love this hotel.Very clean and sophisticated. Jacuzzi is the best I like. The people who stay here should be openly! I want this hotel to distinguish the wet area and dry area. A show water is waving to reclining seat.

      Sleek, Modern, and definitely Unique!
I must admit, this is definitely the most unique hotel I've stayed in. I suppose this is mostly due to the fact that it's a hotel catered to the gay lifestyle. Never have I stayed in a hotel where they had a door sign that read, "please disturb". The room we stayed in was relatively small, but it was comfortable. Furthermore, the shower was positioned in a way that you can actually watch someone shower while in bed. Kindy, I know. Location wise it was perfect. It was right next to the underground subway and also walking distance to KaDeWe. Very convenient. I think my only gripe about the hotel was the internet connection. Gays and internet go hand-in-hand, so I surprised this issue hasn't already been addressed. Overall, it was a nice hotel and worth staying in.

Midtown moderne. . .Sleek and Gay
Look no further if you want upscale hospitality and professional treatment. A modern take on what it is to travel the world in style -- GAY Style! The larger superior rooms are the way to go, City Rooms are finely appointed and handsome but tight on space. The staff here are charming.
