Hamburger Mary's (at Axel Hotel Berlin)

GayCities Members report that Hamburger Mary's (at Axel Hotel Berlin) has closed
First Folsom, now Mary
In 2004 Berlin adopted San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair, branded Folsom Europe. Nearly a decade later, in 2013, the city embraced S.F. institution Hamburger Mary's, though the once-beloved 1972 Folsom Street original incarnation actually closed in 2001. The Hamburger Mary's of modern-day Berlin is linked to the USA gay-theme-park-like national network of individualised franchises, true to the original spirit of combined gay camp outrageousness and decent burgers though eons away from the South of Market dive that defined San Francisco's more sponataneous 1970s/80s glory years. Open from breakfast until late. Check the website for drag shows. Closed December 2015, replaced by Juniper Kitchen and Bar.
