Rüyam Gemüse Kebab (formerly Rüya Gemüse Kebap) Formerly: Rüya Gemüse Kebap

One of Berlin's Turkish hotspots is this über-buzzy, vegeterian-friendly döner kebab establishment at the eastern end of Schöneberg, in major thoroughfare the Hauptstraßse, just doors away from David Bowie's old apartment (at no. 155, pilgrimage-seekers). Until 2017 this establishment was run by by a Turk (and his son), who have since taken the business (and its original name, Rüya Gemüse Kebap) west to Charlottenburg (Otto-Suhr-Allee 19), leaving the old employees in charge here. Rüyam does just a few things — chicken or vegeterian kebabs, with variations — but does them well. The space if a bit of a squeeze and the atmosphere is charged and unfussy, lighting is a bit bright, clientele is not without sex appeal. Opened 2012. Recommended.
