Regional Rhineland food and wine in the Motzstraße
Small, intimate and gaily located restaurant run by Hans Hess, who in October 2016 opened this sibling outlet of his (now-closed) Café Restaurant Hans in Kreuzberg. Hess serves the food and wine from the wine region of Rheinhessen in southwestern Germany, near Mainz, where he grew up, the son of a winemaker. The menu can feature Sauerbraten (German pot roast), dumplings, red cabbage, schnitzel, soups and salads, complemented by local wines. Some home-made cakes too. Located at the somewhat quieter end of the Motzstraße, 30 seconds from Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn. Closed Sunday and Monday, and sadly not open for lunch.
