Café Komine

One of Berlin's finest patisseries just happens to be within effortless reach of all things gay in Schöneberg. Located about 30 seconds round the corner from bars Prinzknecht and WOOF, a few doors south of the Fuggerstraße (while feeling a world away), this pint-sized, minimalist establishment is the domain of cellist-turned-pastry chef Shin Komine, a graduate of Cordon Bleu Tokyo (2009 diploma) who specialises in exquisitely delicious and immaculately detailed French-Japanese pastries. The selection – no more than six or eight at any given time – is as precious as the opening hours: Saturday and Sunday 12 noon–6pm. Coffee is also a thing here. Pricier than a strudel, yes, but beyond worth it. There's a guarantee you'll not recognise half of the items. Signature works include the canelé and the choux aux noix. Opened 2016.
