Mattea

A superior all-day breakfast to what you'll find on the Motzstraße (or at nearby Berio), though it requires about a ten-minute walk south of the gay catwalk into leafy residential territory.  Very Schöneberg. Opened in 2017 (with new owners from 2021), this corner food-and-drink haven looks like a cosy and warmly lit living room while managing to not feel the least bit forced. The menu includes grilled cheddar waffles, eggs benedict, shakshuka and healthy bowls. And as dusk falls out come the sparkling aperitivos, highball cocktails and cool draft beers. Quality is assured all round, though it's not necessarily a sexy option. (But then again...all it takes is one.) AKA Mattea -– Brunch Café & Aperitivo Bar.
