Immediately south of Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station – where hordes of gay men disembark for the pleasures of special-interest Schöneberg – you'll find this small, welcoming and inoffensive coffee hot spot which, like its more mature neighbour Café Berio, plays host to a conspicuous pick of gay scene-stealers sitting outside when it's warm and sunny. Not a huge selection of cakes, but the apple-walnut is recommended. Plus quality sandwiches. In recent years Impala increasingly has been stealing the spotlight from Berio, especially since the latter's decline in quality. Other locations: Wilmersdorf (Wilmersdorfer Straße 67), Prenzlauer Berg (Schönhauser Allee 173) and a second in Schöneberg (Akazienstrase 26).
