Sonntags was an underground club for the LGBT community until the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and retains the welcoming and supportive atmosphere so vital in those days, describing itself as an event, information and advisory center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Partly inspired by Berliner transvestite Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (1928–2002), the space triples as a bar, café and culturally serious venue that hosts art events, film showings, comedy and an open stage night. S-Bahn: Schönhauser Allee.
