Popular split-personality Prenzlauer Berg bar started in 1994 by a Berliner named Steven. Flax operates as a café-bar during the week, then goes clubby at the weekend, though not in the techno/electro sense. Pop oldies, Schlager and personal requests rule the playlist. The atmosphere is casual and living room-like, with sofas and the like, while a disco ball dangles from the ceiling as a signpost to the weekend's party spirit. Clientele is mixed, with gay men outnumbering all others. In the past Sunday brunch also featured. S-Bahn: Berlin Greifswalder Straße.
