Klub International (at Kino International) NO LONGER HAPPENING

Twice a month — once for gay men and once for lesbians — this celebrated Josef Kaiser/Herbert Aust-designed Socialist-era cinema, opened in 1963 and intact, becomes a throwback gay disco pumping mostly indie electro sounds. Started in 2000, the parties do not take place in the actual theatre but in three different rooms: the former library, youth club and Panorama Bar – all part of the original complex. The parties start sometime after 11pm, depending on when the last movie gets out. Kino International is an art-house cinema, and one of Berlin's 12 in the Yorck Kinogruppe chain. Each Monday the cinema goes gay with Mongay, which programmes films of appeal to mostly gay men. For the record, this is the former location of GMF parties [see entry].
